AMP being a bullion merchant, only sells bars and bullion coins that are traded for the value of the precious metal they contain. Numismatic coins, that derive their value from their condition, rarity, history and collectability are typically sold by coin dealers rather than bullion merchants.

Our stock contains coins sold to us by individual customers as well as those we source directly from various national mints. While we do sell some new or uncirculated coins, we cannot guarantee that the coins you receive will be new. Because bullion coins' value is based on the metal they contain, the condition of any coin does not affect its market value.

AMP mostly sells circulated bullion coins and bars. Any gold bullion you invest in will be investment grade bullion between 22 karats and 24 karats gold. Each coin or bar carries a statement of weight and fineness that is stamped directly onto it. The coin or bar itself, in effect, bears its own 'certificate' with reference to the mint or refiner who produced it.

AMP offers a comprehensive range of cast gold bars that are accepted in bullion markets the world over. These bars in .9999 fine gold are available in a wide range of weights to suit every budget.

Gold Bullion Bars are available in a variety of sizes - denominated in grams and kilograms - certified for weight and purity. Kilogram bars, or Kilobars, are minted at 1 kilogram - 32.1507 troy ounces, and are stamped with the refiner's hallmark, stating the purity content and usually a serial number. Gold bullion 1 kilo bars are easy to store.

The kilobar is used extensively for trading - between banks, governments, and traders - and investment, as the premium is very low over the spot price of gold.

Gold bars which are cast, rather than stamped, are often thicker and often called ingots.

Gold ingots are formed differently than the minted bars.

With ingots the weight contained can vary, and these bars are poured instead of being stamped.

Large gold buyers generally find gold ingots as a more cost-effective way to purchase gold.

Various countries produce gold bullion bars, but all adhere to the same assaying standards. AMP sells gold bars of recognized and widely-traded stamped - Umicore, Englehard, Balmoral, Johnson Matthey, Credit Suisse, Pamp Suisse, Heraeus - with its exact weight and fineness produced according to the specifications of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA).

Gold bars - or ingots come a wide range of weights. We can supply you with anything from gold grams up to a 12.5 kilo gold bar, with options for delivery or storage. The 12.5 kilo gold bullion bar / 400 oz offers the best value bullion investment available. Each 12.5 kilo gold bar - of a minimum purity of 99.95% and 99.99% - is engraved with its unique serial number, weight, specific gold content and minting details. 12.5 kilo gold bullion bars are popular with institutional investors and high net worth individuals.

Secure storage, insurance and delivery services by armored vehicle is available.

However note that bars do not generally come with an assay certificate. This does not make the bar any less valuable as its precious metal content does not depend on the presence or absence of an assay certificate, but rather on being stamped with the refiner's hallmark which guarantees its purity and fineness. These hallmarks are accepted by precious metal bullion dealers around the world.

Each bar is marked with the following stamps:

• Fineness

• Year of production

• Serial Allocation number

• Assay stamp of refiner

All our bullion bars are sourced from suppliers who meet the stringent criteria for inclusion on industry-standard Good Delivery lists, links to which are listed below.

NYMEX (CME Group) - Gold
LBMA - Gold

Please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of a specific refiner, year for any bar or coin we sell. However, if you indicate any preferences when you place your order, we will attempt to match them if we have the items you desire in stock.

Gold coins

Gold coins are a predominant symbol of cultural history, and are sought for their artful beauty, rarity and ability to retain value over time. There are several factors that determine the value of coins including the amount of gold they contain, their history, condition and demand.

Whether a coin is classified as Bullion, semi-Numismatic, or Numismatic is wide-open to objective and subjective factors, including the originating country, the age, its condition, the number of stroke coins, the likelihood of additional minting, relevance of historical events, distinctiveness of ownership, and various subjective collector considerations.

Numismatic rare coins are bought for their precious metal content but also for their rarity and their historical, aesthetic appeal.

Bullion gold coins are popular among clients who desire a hedge against inflation or a store of straightforward gold-content value. Bullion gold coins do not carry a meaningful face value, as their value is mainly dictated by their gold content.

The value of a bullion coin relates to its gold content, and is independent of the nominal value of the coin or the number of coins in circulation.

The durability and aesthetic qualities of coins makes them one of the best hedges against inflation.

Gold bullion coins usually come in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 and 1/20 oz sizes, and in most cases each coin is dated.

We recommend gold bullion coins that sell at small premiums over the value of their gold content, not collector or numismatic coins.

Gold coins intended for circulation were a 22k alloy, allowing for wear. Modern investment bullion coins are 24k, although the American Gold Eagle and British gold sovereign continue to be made at 22k, on historical tradition. Several 99.99% pure gold coins are currently available, including Canadian Gold Maple Leaf, Australia's Gold Nugget / Kangaroos and the American Buffalo gold bullion coin also at 99.99% purity.

American Gold (50 Dollars) Eagles, and Krugerrands - containing one ounce of gold - are the best selling gold investment bullion coins. Krugerrands sell at much smaller premiums over spot than Gold Eagles.

20 Dollar St. Gaudens Double Eagle, Canadian (50 Dollars) Maple Leafs, Mexican 50 Pesos, and 100 Dollars Australian Kangaroo/Nuggets also make good gold investments.

The following European coins – that sell at even smaller premiums over the value of their gold content - make excellent gold investments:

100 Pounds Brittania, British Sovereign (Old – Victoria, George, Edward) & (New – Elisabeth), 20 FR Napoleon, 20 FR Helvetia –Vreneli, 20 FR Belgium (Leopold I, Leopold II, Albert), 10 Dutch Guilder (Willem II, Willem III, Wilhelmina), 50 Ecu (Charles V)

NOTE: Dealers usually sell gold coins and bars at about 5% more than AMP. They also tend to buy back at a discount of about 3- 5%. Many sites that promote numismatic and collector coins, which sell at high premiums to their gold content.
